The archive of the newspapers records the history of the Guardian from 1821 and Observer from 1791, and contains correspondence, diaries, sketches, photographs and audio recordings. The Newsroom has a dedicated reading room where visitors can undertake research.
A range of educational services have been developed for children and adults in our schoolroom which is equipped with the very latest in technological innovation. School groups activities have been designed to enrich a number of curriculum subjects across the primary and secondary age ranges.
The main focus of the ground floor of the Newsroom is the exhibition hall. The exhibition focuses on history of the Guardian and the Observer using unique artefacts, documents, photographs and computer interactives. A programme of temporary exhibitions complement the main exhibition.
