| The Guardian Student Media Awards 2001 The Guardian Student Media Awards recognise and reward the best student journalists, editors, photographers and designers with cash prizes, free European flights (courtesy of Go, the low-cost airline from British Airways), as well as work experience at the Guardian. The Guardian awards are now in their 22nd year, and are renowned for launching highly successful careers, with the list of past winners reading like a who's who of the Media - Rankin, publisher, Dazed and Confused; Mark Frith, editor, Heat magazine; Andrew Rawnsley, Observer columnist and TV presenter; Rachel Newsome, deputy editor, Dazed and Confused, to name a handful. This year we want to reward one outstanding entrant with a six-week placement, in addition to the cash prize and free flights. The judges will select one overall winner from among the winners of the various categories who, in their opinion, displays outstanding talent and promise. The overall winner will undertake an extended placement, working at both the Guardian and Guardian Unlimited, and a subsistence award of £1,000 will be provided for the duration of the placement. |
